Elliot Pyrdum is an independent journal about home, property, construction, interior design and home services. We publish practical guides for people making real decisions about a house.

Who we are

We are a small editorial desk made up of a former site manager, a property analyst and an interiors writer. Between us we have renovated, surveyed, rented out and lived in the kinds of homes our guides describe. Elliot Pyrdum exists because most home advice is either a sales brochure or a forum argument, and very little of it tells you what a job costs and in what order to do it.

Our mission

We publish free guides across five desks: Home & Living, Property & Real Estate, Construction & Renovation, Interior & Design and Home Services. Every guide carries current prices, named materials or explicit assumptions, and a sequence a homeowner can act on. If a number is a range, we say why. If a recommendation depends on climate, code or budget, we say that too.

Editorial standards

No sponsored rankings, no pay-to-play lists. We gather prices from supplier listings, contractor quotes and published program rules, then compare them against at least one independent source. When a figure is an estimate rather than a quote, it is labelled as one. When a guide is updated because a price or rule changed, the update date changes with it.

We do not pretend to be a substitute for a licensed professional. A structural opinion needs an engineer on site, a contract needs a lawyer and a tax position needs an accountant. Our job is to help you ask the right questions, understand the range of outcomes and avoid the expensive mistakes that happen before the expert arrives.

How we make money

Some outbound links may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Commission never decides which products appear, what score a guide receives or where it ranks. Advertising is kept out of the editorial column so a paid placement cannot be mistaken for advice.

Corrections

If something is wrong, tell us. Email [email protected] with the URL, the sentence and a source we can check. We correct verified errors within 48 hours and note the change on the page. We would rather publish a correction than defend a mistake.
